Description: The Pakistan Millennium Development Goals Report 2006 evaluates the progress on selected MDG indicators in Pakistan. This report evaluates aggregate progress in poverty alleviation over five years based on consumption and non-consumption based poverty and income inequality indicators. At the sub-national level, the report analyses progress made in 98 districts of Pakistan during 1998-2005, for selected seven indicators under Goal 2, 3, 4 and 7. The report also contains information on the pro-poor expenditure priorities of the Government.

Description: Pakistan is signatory to the Millennium Declaration that identifies eight Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) which range from halving extreme poverty to halting the spread of HIV and AIDS and providing universal primary education, all by the target date of 2015. The UN system assists the Government of Pakistan in meeting these Goals. Towards this end, the United Nations Development Assistance Framework (UNDAF) was developed as a collective response to national challenges identified through the Common Country Assessment (CCA). This focuses on political, economic and social development. Under the UNDAF, the United Nations System will encourage civil society participation and partnership, particularly for the poor, women and marginalized groups.
