National Goodwill Ambassadors

One is a sportsman par excellence bringing accolades to the country, while the other is groundbreaking pop singer with a fan following crossing all boundaries. Their fields are different but what they share is a deep feeling for the country and the people of Pakistan.
When UNDP Pakistan approached tennis superstar Aisaam ul Haq Qureshi and popular singer Hadiqa Kiani with a proposal to be our National Goodwill Ambassadors for Early Recovery, they welcomed this opportunity to contribute to the cause of rehabilitating the 20 million Pakistanis whose lives have been adversely affected by the worst floods in the country’s history.
The National Goodwill Ambassadors are devoting their time and resources to spread the word of the UNDP Early Recovery Programme. They will deliver messages of support for early recovery efforts as UNDP launches its programme in 39 of the worst affected areas of the country to restore livelihoods through job creation, repair of basic community infrastructure, and strengthening of local government offices to get public services running again.
In this process they will travel across the country, often in dangerous locations, to UNDP Project sites to oversee reconstruction efforts and bring encouragement and motivation to the people who are rebuilding their lives after the flood devastation.
