Print

Background

The proposed project was initiated to launch a comprehensive mass awareness campaign for sustainable management of water resources in the country. The project has close relationship with the objectives of Medium Term Framework (MTDF) which stresses sustainable management and development of water resources in the country through integrated project and programmes. The project would also contribute to global targets of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) for reducing poverty by increasing irrigated agricultural productivity, efficient management of water resources, and improving environment. To assist the Government, the United Nations Development Assistance Framework (UNDAF) for Pakistan has been adopted as a response to the national challenges identified in the Common Country Assessment (CCA). UNDAF includes support for creating an enabling policy environment, strengthening institutional capacity and promoting sustainable land and water management practices.
